The baobab tree story, which I wrote (the church version) is actually based upon a true story, told by Limakatso Nare, a Lutheran pastor who is currently serving a congregation in Louisiana. When he was growing up in his native Africa, he gathered for Sunday school under the baobab tree. Here he learned the Biblical stories of Noah and the ark, Jonah and the big fish, and the parables of Jesus. His Sunday school experiences inspired my story, Under the Baobab Tree. 1. Preparedness is our responsibility as believers in Yeshua. He told us about preparation over and over thru His parables. In summary, the prepared prevail. Preparation is physical and spiritual. Prophecy is redemptive and if we believe it, we should appropriate that belief with action that produces spiritual and physical yield. We all know that as contractions get closer together, birth is near. As I watch the birth pains preceding the Messianic reign increase in frequency and the visible one-world government plan of the enemy getting closer and closer in view, I am reminded of our supposed victory, but the bride must be prepared and appropriating the instructions and words of her groom. Is she ready? The Messiah was sent here 2000 years ago, so you can prevail! He told you how to experience salvation, he exemplified an obedient lifestyle, he paid for your sin, and left his Holy Spirit to enable your success. This book and its counterparts in the series will lay a foundation for your faith in Bible prophecy today. Learn and appropriate your faith so you can enjoy the redemptive qualities of prophecy! 1. Kahlil Gibran's The Madman was the first book he penned in English. Beautifully written, it is a short collection of parables on God, animals, human nature, and life's big questions. Not as well known as his classic The Prophet, but some would say just as inspirational, or possibly more so. Read the first verse here and decide for yourself, or better still, listen to the sample of Arthur Browns' beautiful narration. You ask me how I became a madman. It happened thus: One day, long before many gods were born, I woke from a deep sleep and found all my masks were stolen, the seven masks I have fashioned and worn in seven lives, I ran maskless through the crowded streets shouting, "Thieves, thieves, the cursed thieves." Men and women laughed at me and some ran to their houses in fear of me. And when I reached the market place, a youth standing on a house top cried, "He is a madman." I looked up to behold him; the sun kissed my own naked face for the first time. For the first time the sun kissed my own naked face and my soul was inflamed with love for the sun, and I wanted my masks no more. And as if in a trance I cried, "Blessed, blessed are the thieves who stole my masks." Thus I became a madman. And I have found both freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us.But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Arthur Brown. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/wcrw/000013/bk_wcrw_000013_sample.mp3. The sacrifices that Jesus made in the name of his love for mankind were not confined to the cross. It started from the time he was born and continued in all the days that he lived life as a man - the loneliness of knowing but not being able to share that knowledge, the awareness of what he needed to go through, and the ultimate gift of surrendering his life to save us. It is every Christian's dream to have a glimpse into the kingdom of God and to understand God's purpose for our existence here on Earth. In this audiobook Matthew will show Jesus, Bible verses, and some parables to us in a new light. He will reveal how we can be Jesus to other people at the times when they need it most. He will share simple prayers that will open up our hearts in communication with God, to be in his presence, rejoicing and thanking him for being a part of our lives. This book is written like a devotional, where each of the 77 nuggets is aimed to help us be better people, live enriched lives as we walk in God's grace, and fulfill the overpowering need to serve him in our own ways, using the talents that he has given to us. With content that will be simple to mature believers to content that is very rich, this book will be a delight to both new believers and those who are more advanced. 1. Language: English. Tolstoy's first novel and acknowledged as one of his best. The Cossacks is based on Tolstoy's own forays into the Caucasus, abandoning his aristocrat life of gambling and carousing in Moscow and volunteering to be attached to the regular army. Leo Tolstoy's firsthand insight to the magnificent landscape and the colorful Cossack way of life is lushly descriptive, in a text translated from his manuscript by close friends. Olenin is an aimless young nobleman who is disenchanted with city life. Taking a post as a Cadet in the army, he finds himself assigned to the remote Cossack outpost in the Caucasus. It is here, among the Tatars, the Chechens, and the Old Believers, that he will fall in love with a beautiful Cossack girl. The only problem is that she is promised to a Cossack warrior. In the setting of what is present-day Kazakhstan, Tolstoy examines two psychological problems. The first is the dilemma of a young man who desires both fulfilling love and a place as a respected member of society. The other is the difficulty of a primitive society to accept domination by a higher culture that has no understanding of the traditions it asks its colonists to cast aside. Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) was born in 1828 about two hundred miles from Moscow. His mother died when he was two, his father when he was nine. His parents were of noble birth, and Tolstoy remained acutely aware of his aristocratic roots, even when he later embraced doctrines of equality and the brotherhood of man. After serving in the army in the Caucasus and Crimea, where he wrote his first stories, he traveled and studied educational theories. In 1862 he married Sophia Behrs and for the next fifteen years lived a tranquil, productive life, finishing War and Peace in 1869 and Anna Karenina in 1877. In 1879 he underwent a spiritual crisis. Tolstoy then sought to propagate his beliefs on faith, morality, and nonviolence, writing mostly parables, tracts, and morality plays. 1. Language: English. Narrator: David Thorn. Through Marisa's trance channeling and Joe's endless questions from the other side, they were able to interview the eight authors of the New Testament and assemble the Bible Speaks series. Marisa and Joe originally combined the authors' accounts into one audiobook. When they reviewed the audiobook in session with the other side to make sure that the information was correct, while also seeking additional comments from the authors - Jesus, who frequently interceded throughout the interviews, suggested that they break it up into four audiobooks instead. He reminded them that he used to send his disciples out on missions "two by two" and felt that these books would be better received if there were two authors per book. The intent of these channeled sessions was never to open to Bible and ask the authors what they meant by various passages in their books; instead, it was to get to know the authors. From their numerous sessions, Marisa and Joe were able to discover the uniqueness of the men behind the titles. Because Jesus/Christ monitored all the sessions, they were able to learn not only 21st-century lessons from the authors but also new lessons and parables from Christ/Jesus/Yeshua/Emmanuel and the myriad guides, angels, and higher selves of each of the authors, as well as from the higher selves of Joe and Marisa. In Book V, Marisa and Joe extrapolated and assembled as many quotes from Jesus/Yeshua and Christ as possible. Each lesson is then attributable to whichever audiobook in the Bible Speaks series the quote came from. Just like the first four audiobooks in the series, this one brings great lessons to all people of faith and those who are curious seekers. If the listener wishes, he or she may just say, "These may be true, or they may be fiction, but let me see what is in here anyway - I'm curious." Jesus told Marisa and Joe that those who wish to hear will be seekers, the curious. These will be listeners who just don't get religion, w 1. Language: English. Narrator: Joseph P. Moris.
